Picture
this: You are driving down the road and you witness
a hit and run accident. You immediately call 911 and
then run to the victim lying by the side of the road.
The victim is hurt. What can you say to be of help?
A.
"Don't die, please don't die."
B. "Just relax, everything's going to be alright."
C. "I can see you are in pain. An ambulance is
on the way, the worst is over."
If you really want to help, answer (C) is the beginning
of Verbal First Aid, which could save a life.
No matter what
has happened; a car crash, a playground injury or a
person having an asthma or a panic attack, when a victim
is lying on the ground or feeling out of control, the
words they hear in the first crucial moments can make
all the difference in the world. The power of your words
can activate the healing zone or scare them into a worst
