Seven Secrets to a Lasting Marriage"

Challenges
to marriages have grown beyond
arguing over frequency of sex,
money, and managing children's
busy schedules. Currently added
to the list are tension factors
such as job loss, financial
instability, terrorism, germs,
social networking , internet
and cellphone usage. Studies
show that couples are now fighting
about time spent socializing
with 'others' on Facebook, sending
and receiving texts at dinnertime,
and whether its okay to bring
the laptop on the romantic getaway
vacation. To deal with any and
all challenges that arise, it's
important for a couple to foster
love, happiness, and connection
in their relationship on a daily
basis to keep the TEAM strong!
Remember the 3 A's--affection,
attention, and appreciation
and be generous with all three
often. . For every negative
balance with 5 positives, have
fun, and kiss often.

"Why
Men Cheat: The Tiger Woods Saga"
Wednesday, December 3, 2009
@ 4:30 pm
ABC NEWS- Channel 7
(Los
Angeles)
Tiger Woods and other celebrities
who have been caught having
affairs are unfortunately just
a mirror for a growing problem
that is becoming a behavioral
pandemic that threatens the
emotional health and well being
of millions of men, women and
their relationships. ABC asks
Dr. Sheri why do men cheat?
(Although it's not just men,
the statistics for women having
affairs has ballooned too).
Here are just a few simple reasons
why men cheat:
1. Because I can. 2. It's the
thrill. 3. Spend a lot of time
away from home. 4. It's just
sex, not love so it's not cheating.
5. Change in sex life and attention
at home. 6. Ego boost. 7. It's
biological, men are wired to
spread their seed. 8. Not thinking
about the consequences until
it's too late.
The reasons why men (and women)
cheat are much more complex
than the list implies. For more

"Cancer
and Divorce: Why divorce is
far more common when the wife
is the patient"
Tuesday, November 10, 2009 @
11pm
CBS
News Channel 2
(Los
Angeles)
Here's
a depressing piece of information.
According to a study that examined
the role gender played in so-called
"partner abandonment",
a woman is six times more likely
to be separated or divorced
soon after a diagnosis of cancer
or multiple sclerosis than if
a man in the relationship is
the patient. The study also
found that the longer the marriage
the more likely it would remain
intact. I believe that the better
the marriage is to start with,
the better the chances are that
the relationship will survive
and the love grow even stronger.
If a relationship is shaky,
a stresser like this can throw
it over the edge. When disease
hits, it's important to remember
that the marriage needs attention,
as well as the disease itself.
If you find yourself in the
caregiver role, it's important
that you also GET support as
well as give it.

a survivor of a violent childhood
of abuse.
Dr
Sheri talks with EXTRA about

abuse perpetuating the cycle
of abuse in adulthood and what
needs to be done to heal.
FYI:
There are three stages of recovery
for adult survivors: remembering,
mourning, and healing. To break
the cycle of abuse- ingrained
patterning, a survivor must
first work through their memories
of abuse and recognize that
they were wronged as children.
Second, grieve for the childhood
they lost, mourn the fact that
loved ones failed and betrayed
them. Third,take an inventory
of the current problem areas
in their lives and dedicate
themselves to working on controlling
their anger and finding healthy
outlets for any aggressive or
self-destructive feelings they
may still feel.

People in nonmarried relations
work harder at it and enjoy
